Inequality is a phenomenon whose origins have deep social and cultural roots, and in all it’s manifestations inequality is linked to male dominance in the echelons of power in society. In Zimbabwe they say “Kakara kununa hudya kamwe”. This reflects an inhuman, uncaring attitude and perspective about life.

At the primary level, for us to get a firm handle towards resolving these contradictions, both of us men and women, muat start interrogating, uprooting and redefining our respective gender roles and perspectives in our collective search for a just society. It’s not going to be easy, because it means challenging deeply held beliefs, customs and attitudes. It means reserving women their due respect and honour as an equal creation in the image of God.

Therefore, beyond those economistic and UN big technical jargon let’s change the way we think and percieve gender roles, if we must discover peace stability and growth in our society.
